Why do Spiders have a Wobble?

I read it a lot on here, why do the spider gene have a wobble? I was looking at getting one in the future but nervous, does it get serious few years down the road?

It is a genetic anomaly. I don't think anybody knows exactly what causes it, but it must have something to do with the mutated genes that create the spider pattern.

All spiders and combos that include spider will have wobble to some degree. Wobble can become more pronounced or diminish at any time in the snakes life. Most spiders have very little wobble. Mine only shows wobble when he gets excited (feeding time) the rest of the time it is almost unnoticeable.

I wouldn't let wobble scare you off from owning a spider. They are great, most people who own one will tell you that they have a very unique personality and they life long healthy lives.

More or less the same reason white cats with multicoloured eyes tend to be deaf...

Simply put, some genetics, or combinations of particular genetics that would result in visible traits also cause the expression of less desirable traits.

The EXACT reason (on a more detailed genetic level) I'm not sure.

Wobble is hit or miss. They all have it to some degree though. In some, it's barely noticeable, in others, it's hard to miss sometimes. Generally it isn't recognized to cause any significant impact on the animal's quality of life (ie. it still feeds, behaves, and functions normally). Some snakes seem to have very little wobble, then all of a sudden, it's there. Other snakes seem to start out with heavy wobble from a younger age. Whether some snakes actually improve over time is something I can't tell you, but would be interested to know more about.

Overall though, "serious" is not the right word to describe it. More like "how noticeable is it".

i think the punchline is that THE SPIDER GENE IS THE WOBBLE.

also, when you combine a gene with a little bit of a wobble (for example champagne) with a gene that has the real wobble (spider), you hit lethal combos. Thats the second punchline.

edit: with lethal combos i mean: they may or may not hatch, but will soon die if they manage to hatch. living temporarily, but not viable.
