    problem feeding..
Tonight I switched my bp to rats. He has and always will eat f/t but large mice weren't cutting it anymore so I thought it was time for small rats! I think the rat is roughly the same thickness that he is, but could it be too big? Would a snake attempt to eat something if it was too big for them? He struck and everything fine, he's not a bad feeder or anything, but he's let go of the rat a few times to re-sniff it over and find a different end to swallow from (apparently the front leg was appealing to him )

as I'm typing this, it looks like he's trying to swallow it once again, but am I over reacting? Should I share pictures and get people's feedback?

I'm just afraid that I made a mistake, and the rats are too big :confusd:

Relax and don't let the size of their food fool you. Their tiny little necks are amazingly stretchy and if the rat is about the same size as the thickest part of them then everything will fit just fine. Just let your snake do its thing and figure out the best angle to eat the rat from.

Yeah I think it looks like he got the hang of it, it's just never taken this long and I was getting worried!

The first time they eat rats it does take a bit. At least he didn't try to eat it but first. My girl is 4 yrs old and still tries to eat some but first lol. Just relax and let him do his thing.

Yep, that's just a BP unsure of a new food item. He'll be taking those rats without even thinking next time.
