My snakes new way of eating
We feed our 24 inch ball python live rat pups, he used to eat regularly he has been refusing food a lot lately which resulted in a much larger rat pup than he has had before, he refused him a few times. Last night he ate, and finally succeeded in catching and completing the kill without striking! I was so proud of him and he is happy with himself, is it normal for ball pythons? I've been watching him attempt to do this over the last few weeks, he would try to wrap them up multiple times then get irritated and strike, he has never been so proud of himself :)

I'm a little confused. He wraps them up before striking? Isn't striking required before they can even wrap anything up? Unless he like, gently grabs them from you? O_o

My bee missed his strike last night but coiled around the rat; I can't get the image in my head of a snake constricting without a strike first either!

Thats why I posted, I thought it was so weird he was even trying. A few weeks ago I thought maybe he had hurt his mouth, because he kept trying to kill without striking. He doest grab them from me. He likes to hunt a lot,

I almost feel like he's trying to challenge himself, He's got such an interesting personality. He's not the type to lay around he's always doing something. We were letting climb around our room one night and he fell(not from high) , the next day he was up in his homes branches dropping himself over and over and over. It was like he was trying to work through his fear, and since then he's known his limits....

Yea and my dumbass snake likes to eat them without fully killing them.......its a lovely site to see the rat pups moving around in her stomach. I took a video of it last time. Super creepy and can't be healthy for the snake.

That sound eerie to say the least! Adolf almost swallowed one alive but changed his mind and finished killing it.

Heres the video clip i spoke of. A video doesn't do it justice, but you can kinda see it especially at the end of the clip.
