Is a Split T8 too Small for an Adult?
So I have enough money for a T8 finally. I want to get it a divider for it so I can house two BPs in there, at least while they are still hatchlings. I'm wondering if with just a weaterbowl and 2 hides if 24x24x12 will be too small once full grown? What I would like to do is save up a little longer and get 2 of these RHPs. The guy over at AP said he would install for me if I had it shipped to them. I was going to have one of each of those on both sides. I figure with that, I probably won't need belly heat right?

So the 2 questions are will that be too small and will 2 RHP eliminate the need for a UTH?

    Thanks!!

The floor space in half of a T8 is almost identical to that of a 41 quart tub. So yes you can house 2 adult BP's in a divided T8.

2 radiant heat panels can be used in place of heat tape as long as they aren't centered in each side if the cage.

Thanks Aaron! So I would want to have the heat panels on the edges of the T8? Should they be on the outside edges or next to each other near the divider?

Or... Will heat tape run along the center of the T8 like you have in your set-up post be sufficient enough heating for a T8? I know they hold heat and humidity really well..but I live in VT so I want to make sure it's going to work out before I spend all the money. I made that mistake when I bought my first snakes enclosure...

How cold does the room the cage will be in get?

You could always get it with just heat tape then add heat panels later if you need them, they are pretty easy to install.

It's typically around 70 but can get much colder if the heat is off, which is out of my control sometimes. I thought heat tape only heated the surface and not the air? Or are things a little different with PVC?

These cages retain heat much better so every little bit of heat in the cage stays there. If the room stays around 70 most of the time RHP's aren't necessary. But I would recommend getting 2 of the 18" fluorescent light fixtures with the cage from AP. An 18" fixture will add a few degrees into the cage and should keep things just about right.
