Is this just a big Boa?

I was browsing YouTube and came across this video. I have just one Boa that seems to be just a common BCI, the Boa in this video looks huge! Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the type of boa this is and if this is common for a female BCI?

Good sized boa. Good looking girl, too. It just keeps getting more difficult for me to justify not having a Boa. I think "Expert Village" is pretty poorly named, though. Most of their contributors are anything BUT.

The video was blurry for me but looks like an overweight Colombian BCI, hard to tell how long it is based on the video.

The female in the video is large, but not overly so. That's on the large end of average. She also appears to be a bit overweight which adds to her size...

Your boa is very nice. I would wager that the snake in the vid is simply older. Yours still looks fairly young. Do you know how old she is?

And it's important to note that every snake is a bit different. I've seen some very nice, breedable, healthy females at 7-ish feet and some females at nearly 10 feet that are not in any "better" condition than their smaller counterparts. And locality does play into it as well. Colombian female will get pretty big at close to 8ft. Some other locality-specific sub-species are much smaller. Nics, Hogs, CAs and the other insular varieties can be as small as 5ft as adults - even the females. Your girl is pretty dark - it is possible there is some Nicaraguan blood there that is helping to keep her small.

One other thing - are you sure yours is a female?? The males stay smaller...........

According to the feed card when I got her she is a July 2011 hatchling. I'm not 100% sure if she is a girl, that is what she was sold to me as. Either way I will be happy no matter how big he/she gets. The one in the video just seemed really big. Here is a pick of her when I got her back in January of this year.

Yours looks about right for a 2011. She's still got a lot of growing to do. :gj:

I am in agrence with Evenstar & DayBreaker, looks like a slightly overweight Colombian B.c.i. but not huge by any means. The other thing to consider is the mans height and stature so if he is a smaller man he can make the boa look bigger then it really is.

A little off-topic, OP, what's that stuff you're using as substrate? I forgot the name of that stuff a while back and I've been trying to figure it out ever since. :confusd:

I'm surprised my eyes caught onto this as well, but the boa in that video struck me as overweight too. Just looks like a fat average sized snake, but they certainly can get bigger. Check this page out.

Am I hallucinating, or are there a few NON boas on that page? I would swear at least one of the really big ones is an anaconda.
