New to snakes confused about shed

ok so I'm confused about this whole shed thing...it seems like my lil guy needs help shedding but I don't see the patches on his body like I see in all the other pics...just mainly around his neck (as shown in the pic). it's hard to kno what's going on when I don't kno what to look for. Sunday is when I first noticed anything...a half dollar size piece of shed laying around...his humidity is in the 90s at the moment to help shed (not always) and temps are fine...I gave him a bath in a tub with the lid closed to help shed but I was scared to peel it off (not wanting to hurt the snake) plus he looked pissed as he turned at me and opened his mouth slightly like "don't make me..." lol...but seriously any insight would help.

Damp pillowcase, snake in, tie half way down and pop in the enclosure over night (the middle of the enclosure) I've heard this helps, didn't do a thing for my pastel but I've heard more successes than failures.

Alternatively let him run through a damp cloth in your hands applying soft pressure towards the tail as he moves to help assist.

I know...I'm just scared he won't be able to breathe through it...lol im a scaredy cat...imo trying to let him shed on his own but it looks like I may hv to do the pillowcase...thx

Make sure it is cotton as cotton is breathable. I have done this twice and although it didn't help me I can promise my girl could breath just fine :) My pastels shed was very stuck and after bathing and the pillowcase I couldn't get it off so I took her to the place I bought her from and they proceeded to rub it off her. She was left with a retained eye cap which came off with the next shed.

When my snake started his first shed with me, he began rubbing his head on my hand to loosen up the scales on his face. I noticed that it began coming off so I grabbed a pair of tweezers and helped loosen up the bottom scales from his lower jaw. From there he let me help him shed. Me pinching the loose shed while he began pulling it off of himself.

I can definitely say that helping your snake out with a pair of tweezers won't hurt them if you're just grabbing the shed. I wouldn't recommend pinching too close to their scales because you risk grabbing an actual scale and that would be rather painful if you tugged on it. But with patience, I'm sure your snake wouldn't mind the help. It's just a slow rather boring process.

And assisting your snake with their shed won't make them forget how to do it afterwards because he's shed some more after this first time without any further help.
