    ball oython humidity
I have a bp and I have it on aspen fibers and I can't keep the humidity up but I've cut Plexiglas to fit most of the top.
I was thinking to mix coco fibers with aspen but I don't know what to do I need help

Aspen can mold easily if ya temps are too cool and it gets to moist,I've had that experience once...I'd leave a WET not damp,THICK towel on top the screen, covering most the screen..I also add tup o ware container filled with wett not damp sphagnum moss, right on top of my hot side hide below the heat lamp..that helps let off humidity as well..but I'm making the switch to Eco earth and repti bark/coco husk. I like the way it holds humidity way better and my snake had a 100 % perfect 1 full pieces shed..I'm done with aspen

I would remove the aspen and simply use cypress or coconut bark. Aspen has little resistance to mold so mixing it with something like coconut is similar to mixing oil and water.

    Welcome to the site!

Don't mix aspen with another substrate that holds more moisture. If you do that the aspen will grow mold very quickly.

Switching to coco husk substrate like Eco-Earth will help with your humidity issue, as will switching to cypress mulch.

What are you using to heat the cage?
What are you using to measure temperatures/humidity in the cage?
What are your current cage temperatures/humidity?
What size cage do you have?

I have a 55 gallon tank and I use a 100 watt light bulb. My room is about 80 all the time

Is it just a regular light bulb?

If so you can probably use a much lower wattage heat bulb like the 50 watt version of this infrared bulb:

I'm shocked a 100 watt bulb, although your room temp is 80 keeps your 55 gallon warm enough for your snake...I have a 29 gallon high,my apt stays around 68-84 year round and a 100 watt keep my tank in the 86-90 temp range, hot side that is..

hope you have a UTH.. I'd just get rid of the aspen, add some more heat from your lighting and switch to eco earth, coco husk, repti bark, cypress mulch, which every one or couple you choose to use...just make sure you spray down and wett the substrate but also make sure u have enough heat to adventually dry it out..I'm lrg try are from what I've read around here, scale rot in common from to much dampness.

50 watt bulb for a tank that is 55 gallon,no way will that keep the tank warm enough..I know you know more than me ,but I don't agree with that..my 20 gallon long has a screen top,I cover most all of it and use a 50-75 watt bulbs

If the room is that warm all the time you could also switch to an Under Tank Heater (UTH) and stop using lights all together. UTH's don't heat the air in the cage so they don't remove any of the humidity.

UTH's require 3 things to work properly.

    1. A thermostat controlling them.
    2. A probed thermometer to monitor them.
    3. A thin substrate layer ½" thick or less.

Here are some good thermostats, stay away from the junk sold in petstores:

Here is a good probed thermometer:
