Heating. Room or Rack?

Am new so am wondering pros and cons of heating the whole room or using belly heat?

If heating whole room then what temp should I shoot for?

Flex-a-watt is the hot side regulated to no more than 95ish degrees on the floor of the tub.
I have the room sealed off from the house so that I don't have to fight control of temps with the central a/c.
I keep my room heated between 78 and 82 degrees.

Agree, heat tape with thermostat, my reptile room is kept at 78-80

Same here. Flexwatt belly heat in the rack, and 76 degree room temp.

Belly heat, but definitely not flexwatt. THG is so much better.

I only heat my room. Only belly heat is in my baby rack. My room or 82-84f. They eat and breed great.

So why is everyone so adamant about 90 hot side? What is the temp in your tubs?

Because its what works best.
You can run cooler temps but you have to do it in stages.
A friend of mine rescued a collection that was in a house that had no power in the middle of winter. Granted Texas winters are not that frigid but the house was in the 30s.
Over a period of a couple weeks they were brought up to a reasonable 85ish degrees without any problems. No loss or illness at all. Feeding was not attempted till they were stable for another couple weeks.
He doesnt run any heat in his room until the temps drop into the low 70s.

I just keep them close to 95 on the hot and most stay in that area.

Most people who have 90 hot spots have lower ambient temps. If your room temp is around 85, you technically don't need a hot spot and many big breeders just heat up the room than give a hundred+ animals an individual hot spot.

Oh no, mine are at 90-92, I was just wondering because it's kinda conflicting. Ya know what I mean???
