i'm just wondering if anyone has used this for cleaning their bp tanks and the stuff in it, and what they thought of it. it has a bunch of warnings and stuff on it, but i guess that would be true of bleach and most other cleaners too. would you guys use this stuff or stick more to something like bleach and water (what i use currently).?

i like bleach and water. it costs a buck for a gallon and works well. i do not see paying 5-10 bucks for a product when a dollar can do the same. plus i can use bleach for all the dishwasher safe toys. a nice way to clean things if your stuff can stand up to it.

I agree. I bought a spray bottle at the dollar store and it is marked by percentages to get a precise mixture. I take it in the tub and spray everything down with the bleach and water mix. Then I rinse with hot water. Keep it simple and things will work out great.

But those things are a waste of money. You can buy a months supply of feeders for the price of that.

I use a similar product for quick cleanups: http://www.reptiledirect.com/index.a...PROD&ProdID=50

It's good to have on hand when a herp makes a mess, but you don't have time to do a full scrub-down. When I do my heavy-duty cleaning, I use bleach.

i have a 30 gallon tank...was used for fish before i put a snake in it...but the sides are all foggy and it's a bit hard to see inside.
will bleach and water help that?

the best thing that i have found for that is to actually take a razor blade and scrape the sides of the aquarium. that fog is probably mostly just buildup from stuff in the water and i have yet to find a chemical that is safe for use with reptile enclosures that will take that stuff off. just get one of those cheap scraper things from walmart and have at it.

Actually, a good scraping/scrubbing followed by washing with vinegar and water solution ought to clear that up immensely. Vinegar is very good for cleaning glass.

if you use vinegar/water to clean the glass, do you follow it with a bleach solution or anything, or does it kill bacteria and germs and stuff too?

Marla's right. Vinegar should take care of the water deposits on the glass.

Caren, the Zoo Med stuff smells suspiciously like rubbing alcohol. I spray it on, let it sit a few minutes, then wipe it dry with a paper towel and let it air out a little. I usually don't notice a smell after that. Is the smell you're referring to bleach smell or reptile smell?
