Having BP roam outside in nature
I was wondering if there's any reason why not to take my BP outside and let it roam over grass and explore a bit outside. I'm worried about him picking germs and get any disease or any kind of parasites so he's never been in contact with outside beside in hands or handling box.

I've seen some pictures here taken on grass outside and was thinking how cute is that, but still i have all this questions if it's a smart idea or not.

I don't want him to get sick or infested with parasites, i would try to avoid unnecessary vet bills but yet I would totally want him to explore more wast spaces since he's a true explorer of his habitat

When we leave him be inside our apartment he goes all around exploring not seeking for hides or anything just explores everything and sooner or later ends up on our "tree" alike plant he climbs the radiator on a wall onto a window ledge where the plant is climbs on the plant and has fun on it :snake:

I personally wouldn't let mine outside. I live where there are snakes and she could get mites, and other nasty stuff. Plus she could get too cold, or hot depending on time of year. That's just my personal opinion though.

Temperatures are taken into account so late spring till start of fall temps are fine. But the bacteria, germs, parasites is what worrys me. There are other animals that roam outside birds, cats etc.

I let mine roam around outside a tiny bit during the fall. Hopefully he can roam around during the spring as well. I keep a close eye on him while he's outside and I don't let him wander around too much.

Temps here are +22C (72F) throughout spring-fall and yeah I wouldn't let him unsupervised. Although it still worries me with possible infections and parasites.

Oh and it just struck my thoughts ... how about birds? Some medium sized bird could easily scoop the snake up :tears:

:sarcasm: Call me paranoid or something

Yep, that's why I keep a close eye on him. I make sure he doesn't stray too far from myself when we're outside. It's still a threat, as unlikely as it may be.

I live in an area that has wild venomous and non venomous snakes. We also have birds of prey. I usually shoo the non venomous snakes under my house to keep rodents away. I know they're there and I don't want my girl to get the nasties that the wild ones have.

As fun as it may sound, it isn't something I usually recommend for people. Like others have said, it isn't worth the risk of my animals becoming sick or injured. As far as photos taken in the grass, many people I know set the snake down, take pictures for 5 or 10 minutes, and then the snake goes back inside.
