is'nt size a rough estimate for age? yesterday i took the chance to get a rough measurmet of roswell. at one point he stretched across the 20 gallon in a straight line. i got the tape measure, and estimated 20" give or take a half inch. he was not prefectly straight. i got him at a petco a few months ago, and or course they did not know anything about the snakes.. what age could i assume he was. they always had new suplies of snakes, so i assume they were not that old. my g/f's snake is much longer and fatter, and she knows it to be 2 and a half years old cause she knew the age when she got roo. so i think mine may be around a year old. any guesses???? :w00t:

not a year. more like a few months. average hatchling size is 14-16in

It really depends on how well it has been eating, and how big it was at hatching. If you have had it for a few months, and it is 20 inches long now, I would say it is a few months old. PetCo most likely got it in a shipment of hatchlings that were about 2-3 weeks old. That would be my guess.

It depends on a couple of factors. First of all .. every snake is different. They grow at different rates. Growth rate also depends on what you feed. Mice vs rats makes a big factor. Smulkin or Smynx has the pic of two of their bp's that were clutchmates. One was switched over to rats and the other was on mice. You can really see the difference.

so rats make that much if a difirence. i have noticed how small most feeder mice are.. even the "fatter" ones are kinda tiny. i am going to switch to rats once my mouse suply is depleted. i wanted to switch tonight (feeding night), but can not find a store that has them.. that is okay cause i think there are only 3 mice in the freezer right now.
