    Great Start So Far
2 years ago I bought a BP from a private breeder through an on line ad and I soon learned there is a good reason to stay away from ads like the one I jumped on. The normal BP I got lost a lot of weight in the first few months, would not eat regularly, shed horribly. It was a bad experience that wound up seeing the snake die and me feel like a horrible person even though I put every effort in to succeeding. After enough research and discussion with local herp pros I was relieved to find that its was more likely the snake was sold to me with an RI, as he only lasted 6 months before the inevitable demise. I was really upset when it happened and was rattled about my ability to care for the snake. I was afraid to try again in case it was my fault. The last thing I wanted to do was cause another animal to suffer.

After a break and some time to wrap my head around what happened a good friend of mine hasd ventured into breeding and suggested I buy one from him as he could assure me that I was getting a healthy Snake. I decided to go ahead and do it. I bought a better PVC cage, Bought all new equipment and purchased Shamo, my champagne pastel Ball and since July he has eaten once weekly every week, shed twice and is getting some nice size and great colour.

No real point to my story, I just felt like sharing my success story so far as Im so happy my new friend appears to be thriving!!

    Cheers.

I prefer to buy from breeders, I'm sorry it was such a bad experience for you buying privately!

I have been fortunate, 4 of my 6 are privately bought, 1 is from a breeder and the other is from a specialised rep shop. Although 2 of my privately bought ones are very much on the small size they eat/handle well etc and my other two privately bought ones also eat like champs. My one from the breeder is also spot on. They are very docile and deal with my well...My shop bought one is a little bit worse, picky eater, had a terrible first shed and likes to strike at me occasionally.

I wish you the best of luck with your new one! They're really remarkable animals to keep :)
