noob with questions

Hello all,

So I have deciced that im going to get a crestie, but i have some concerns about heating. To start I do know that cresties dont need the really high temps like a leo, but the temp in my house is so inconsistent that I have some worries. Im planning on getting a baby crestie so I know that the fisrt enclosure will have to be smaller, such as a kritter keeper. I was wondering if I were to use a low watt heat bulb, say a foot over the kritter keeper, with the beam only hitting one extreme side of it. Would I have to worry about over heating? Will this provide a "temp saftey net" if my house were to get into the low 60's? I do Plan on testing this before I buy a crestie. Im open to any suggestions and input.

I would buy a heat gun to test the temps, I would also use some sort of thermostat and put the probe on the hot side of the tank so if the temp goes above the desired temp you are looking for the thermostat would just shut it off.
