Time frames on getting first litter
How soon do you normally get your first litters from your rats. I have had 3 groups of 1.2's together for nearly 2 months now and have only had one group produce litters so far. Also I'm wondering how long I should give them before I start looking for new feeders.

If these are new rats (as in you brought them in from another location), they might need a couple weeks to settle in before they'll start to reproduce. Also if they are younger, they might need some time (a few weeks to a few months, depending on how old they actually are) to grow up a bit and get the idea of what they are supposed to be doing.

All else aside... once they do start breeding, gestation is about 21 days, give or take a couple.

How old and how large are the rats?

It took my colony 2 months to settle before starting to breed.

I have a 1.3 group and I've had them a month now. Still no babies. There didn't seem to be that many breeding attempts until about a week ago. One would let him and the other two won't. She's chubbier than the other two (she's sisters with one of the other girls) so I'm hoping she's pregnant. I tell them every day before I leave for work to give me babies. Hasn't worked so far. :P
