Exo Terra Incubator, pt-2499

Can anyone tell me if this incubator is any good to use or even worth messing with?

I don't recognize this incubator (and I can't google the model number right now)...but most by the big name companies are crap. Build your own out of a styrofoam cooler and heat tape.

Yep but me and building things dont match. Lol

I've been using one for 3 seasons now and it does the job.
I do place my own thermometer and hygrometer inside to ensure
the proper environment for the eggs. The eggs are placed in bins
with about 2 inches of very wet perlite and the eggs are placed on
top of a rubber mesh to keep them from touching the perlite. Then
I sit back and wait and wait some more, checking temps 2x a day.

So you would say its pretty good? I found one for about $150.

I'm using mine for the first time right now with beardie eggs in repashys super hatch. So far so good! I think I paid around 130 for mine on sale so I think that's not a bad price.

Building a small to medium sized incubator is incredibly easy. All you have to do is:

1. Buy a styrofoam cooler.
2. Get some prewired THG Heat Tape from reptile basics.
3. Using foil tape, tape the heat tape to the inside of the cooler
4. Place thermostat probe inside the cooler and poke a hole in it for the cord to pass through
5. Adjust thermostat to desired incubator temperature

For $150 you could get a decent sized cooler, a herpstat intro +, and the necessary heat tape. You would be getting a much better incubator for basically the same money.

I'm not good at building things either and I built an incubator that holds 8 clutches. It hatched two clutches last season! It's really easy and you don't really "build" anything. You just buy the pieces and install them.
