    1st time questions
my first time attempting a breeding this year for bp's..... ive watched kobylka's vids on youtube but still had a couple questions.

1st off when you put a male in with a female, how long do you leave him...a few hours or like 24hrs? how long does it usually take for copulation to occur if its gonna happen?

also when there is a successful lock up, is there usually a liquid secretion released by one or both of the snakes? ...im asking this b/c I was gone for about 6 hrs after putting my male in and when I came back the newspapers were wet and there was a funny odor, so im not sure if they locked or not, so I went ahead and took him back out.

    thanks for any tips!

I leave males with females for 3 days unless i see a lock. If theres a lock i check some hours later and if they are done i separate them. If a dont see a lock the male stays for 3 days, they usually do it almost right away. Once they are done the male gets 3 days off, with food and fresh water. And then to another female.

That liquid must ve been urine. Theres no secretions. They do that sometimes.

My "breed week" looks like this:
    Day 1 - feed
    Day 2-3 - digest
Day 4-6 - Male goes in with female
Day 7 - Male goes back into his tub unless he's locked with the female, in which case wait until they're done to move the male.
Since I'm only breeding two different pairs this year I'm giving the males every other week off.
