    HELP! Thermostat question
I can't find a thermostat anywhere. Not Walmart, not Menards. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Idk. So I'm going to have to drive almost an hour to Petsmart, but all they have is this : http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...AvailInUS%2FNo

It says for tanks 40 gal. & up. Would it work fine on a smaller tank? Where are you guys finding yours? I have the option of Walmart, Menards & Petsmart anywhere near me. :/

    Thank you!

The petstore thermostats aren't that reliable.

If you're on a budget, a Hydrofarm T-stat is recommended. Amazon has them with free shipping.

The best thermostats can only be found online or certain reptile stores. Herpstats are the best, but their lowest priced unit is $99.

Thermostats can be used on any size enclosure.

I don't have a credit/debit card to order anything online, plus I already have the snake, so I need to find one in-store ASAP. :/

This is what I use in all my enclosures. I have seen many people suggest it as well. You can go online and see which WalMart has it in stock. Just check for "store pickup", set your local store(s) until you see who has it in stock and you are all set.

    Good luck!

OP needs a thermostat, but I use these thermometers too and I like them!

If you can't buy online your best bet for the meantime may be a lamp dimmer to control the UTH: you'll need to adjust it manually but it's a safer option in the meantime of getting an actual thermostat.

Actually if you get a cheap on/off t-stat a lamp dimmer on the circuit is a good idea anyway since when those t-stats fail they usually run wide open. You can get them at Lowes or Home Depot for about $12.

If you don't have a credit or debit card but want to buy stuff from amazon.com you can use cash to buy one of their gift cards at any grocery store, then pay online with the gift card.

I went to petsmart and got the Zilla 1000w Temperature Controller. I couldn't find anyone who had a lamp dimmer. I also got the Accurite Thermometer. Hot side is running 94. Cool side is 67, but I just turned a 75w red light on over that side, so hopefully that will come up soon. Switched from carpet to EcoEarth Coconut substrate & humidity is currently at 35%.

You can use a light/lamp dimmer that you can find at any hardware store like Home Depot or Lowes. But the temp controller works too.

Hydrofarm thermostats are what I use. I advise that you also get a thermometer to monitor the UTH incase you have a faulty thermosat or it craps out or shorts out at any time. UTH goes under the glass and thermometer probe goes inside tank on glass over the hottest part of the pad.
