Anyone still shipping?

I'm in south Florida so it's always shipping weather down here.
What is to low to ship to though? If they are in the 30s I say no, what about the 40s? 50s?

I have seen most of the reputable breeders will not ship below 40 and above 90.
That is what I'll go by

I am in the south too and my last shipment will be just before thanksgiving and it's coming from the west coast so I am sure you can hunt down somebody.

I'm in mid Florida. I know one breeder is shipping. I get my F clown tomorrow. I think it's in the 40's where the snake is coming from.

I've also heard the 40 to 90 range is shippable as well.

You can ship nationwide all winter long with some consideration.

We have temperature guidelines at ShipYourReptiles for both summer and winter shipping.

Our general guideline is don't ship below 38F, and not above 92F (or 100F if you are shipping direct to a facility). We set the guidelines to give all shippers the best chance of success. There are techniques you can use to ship in hot or cold weather successfully, but those come with experience and a deeper understanding of the process. The SYR guidelines give everyone the best chance of success.

For our own breeder shipments as Pro Exotics, we have shipped into the single digits without much issue. Double insulating the package helps. Using two heat packs in a small box does NOT help, in fact it will only overheat and kill the animal instead. Common misconception there. Only use two heat packs for a large box, not to prevent a small box from getting cold.

The issue you do run into in cold weather shipping is the heat pack coverage. If everything goes well and the package is delivered the next day on time, it should be fine. Once there is a delay, mechanical, misroute, etc, and the package delivery is delayed, especially by a day or more, the heat pack is not going to be much help, and you can run into DOA issues. It is actually easier and more predictable to ship during the winter, than in the heat of summer.

I've shipped out successfully in low temps. We're talking 15-20 degrees on my side. I dropped the snake off as late as I could that way it would only be "exposed" for a few hours before shipping out. I ship hub to hub so really the snake shouldn't be outside of the building/plane for very long. I suggest shipping hub to hub if you are shipping in excessively hot or cold weather. I used a lot of insulation (thin newspaper shreds) and put the heat pack on the bottom rather than the lid of the box. I know other breeders have the same practice, that's where I learned from ;)

I just shipped a 16x30 box to MO. from Fl. Doubled the insulation in the box, split it down the middle(shipped multiple snakes), and put 2 heat packs on each side. I make a separate compartment for the heat pack. It seems to work well. Everything arrived on time and perfect. I will say I was a bit worried. It was in the low 40's at there destination.
