If any of you have kept both boas and Bps, have you noticed this... boas tend to shed so much cleaner and easier? I have never had a broken shed from my boa, while with my Bps, even if I raise the humidity to 100% the shed comes off in two or three pieces sometimes.
I think that my boa could shed in one piece if he were in the darn desert! Anyone else notice this?

bp's
Homer had two perfect sheds in the time I had him and Sprocket had one. I was just amazed at how fast they actually shed. I've watched Andy shed once, and it just seemed like he was going about it sort of lazy. The boa's there was no foolin around. As soon as their skin started to break away at the nose ... they were ready to get it off.

Congrats on good sheds with your boas.
Will someone please tell Storm that boas are supposed to shed nicely....I spent the last two evenings, at least an hour or more each night, trying to rid her of a shed. I bumped humidity up when she went into blue...gave her humid hides...soaked her....everything. And still a pain.
This was her first shed with me....and I'm hoping that maybe her last shed was a bad one, and thats why this one took so much work. Guess I'll find out next shed.

She could have been nervous Sass. I'm sure the next one'll be complete for ya :)

When I had a BCI as a kid, all I did for humidity was have a water bowl and do a daily misting in the screen-top aquarium I used for it. Never had an imperfect shed.
However, both times Ippo shed while I've had him were perfect sheds. All I do is have a waterbowl and moisten the substrate whenever it looks dry.
Then again, I probably live in one of the most humid places in North America so that may have more to do with where I live than how I care for my snakes.

She shed her top half fine....but the bottom half was the pain....thats why I was thinking that her last shed was bad....but then what do I know....

I hear ya! Here in western NY we are having the most humid summer, with rain every other day. If I had darned screen-lids on my cages, I ber the humidity would still never fall below 80 percent!

As long as all the skin comes off, consider it a good shed, regaurdless of the piece count.
Some just get to anal about one piece sheds
