white % in piebald breeding
When I was bought my piebalds years ago, I did my online research and it seemed to me that most people believed that piebalds with a high percentage of white could be born from any parents with piebald genes. If the parents were visual piebalds with just tiny amounts of white, there was an equal chance of producing high white piebalds compared to parents with high amounts of white. Do people still believe this? This season is my first time producing piebalds. I bought a trio of piebalds years ago and we got 2 clutches of eggs. The first clutch has hatched out and the second clutch should hatch in about 2 weeks. The first clutch has produced 1.3 babies with a high amount of white. I've attached pics of the parents who are medium white animals. In my second clutch, the mother is also a medium white piebald. I can't wait to see what her babies will look like. With only 2 clutches this season, my sample size is way too small to answer my question. I'm curious to know how the parents' amount of white translates to the babies. Can low white pied adults produce high white babies? Can high white pied adults produce low white babies? Thanks in advance. Re: white % in piebald breeding
The answer to your question is something that I'm interested as well. Definitely keep me updated on this.
I'm looking for a Pied boy right now to breed with my Pastave Het. Pied in a couple of years so I can try for a Pasteve Pied. :)

Re: white % in piebald breeding
It is extremely variable. A pair of 99% white pieds can throw a 1% white pied baby and a pair of 1% white pieds can throw a 99% white pied. The amount of white in the parents has no impact on the amount of white the babies have. That is not to say that a certain pairing will not only produce high white or low white. That is something I can not speak on but I would think that would be a possibility.
