do i make the switch with my t stats?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------So i have a choice to switch my t stats. I have a herp 1 basic and a herp 2 and they are running three tanks. the herp 1 is on an animal plastics t10 and the herp 2 is on two of my animal plastics t8's. Im looking at getting another t8 for my new bci. here is the idea to switch. I came across a deal and it would have to be ordered today to get a herp 4 for $300 shipped brand new. do i sell the herp 1 and 2 and go to a herp 4 one out put for each tank or do i bridge one of the herp 2 out puts to run another t8. all tanks are heated with a RBI 80w rhp. What would you do? get the herp 4 and later if need be bridge those or bridge now and save $50. if i was to sell the herp 1 and 2 i would be asking $160 shipped for the herp2 and $100 shipped for the herp 1. I need to send the guy money within a few hours if i do choose to do the herp 4.

I have the herpstat 4 and love it... The only issue in your case would be if you wanted to have a separate tstat unit to run quarantines or something in another area.... In which case running everything off of the one herpstat4 wouldn't work.

I don't think they advise splitting the inputs to run multiple things... But I've never done it so have no idea on how that would work.

As far as switching I'm not sure what I would do if if were you. But running 2 on the same output can be done the biggest issue I see is one I'm currently having. With my enclosures stacked (with a small gap) the enclosure on top is getting heated from the enclosure below for now I'm getting 92 degree floor temps on the top enclosure from the 80w rhp in the bottom enclosure. Which is fine for my Bp (in the top enclosure) but my boa likes it a little cooler.

So basically what I'm saying is if you stack enclosures it may be difficult to regulate heat in one of them using one tstat.

If you have the money go ahead and get the hero 4 it'll be easier but you never know if you'll be able to sell your other therms at the price you want so don't depend on that

bumbleb, i have already had two members end me pms saying they want them at that price so i wouldnt of had to worry about that part. I have decided to keep them tho only because the out put wattage of the two is the same out put as the herp 4. my herp 2 i would be able to run two stacks of t8's 5 high with 100 whatts extra if needed so i am keeping the herp 2 and 1. Thanks for your concern that you may not feel $100 shipped on a herp 1 basic is a deal because new with shipping you are looking at $130 and on the herp 2 $160 shipped as opposed to $200 shipped is a good deal concidering i was giving new t stat probes so basicly you would of been getting a slightly used herp 1 and herp 2 for about 20% off oriinal retail
