    A Very Shy Eater
So Starvin Marvin is my first BP so this may be really common. But I've noticed my little guy is a super shy eater. Doesnt really like to eat while being watched. He'll give, and bite the damn thing, but usually just sits like this for 5 minutes before doing anything else...

It still amazes me that their head size doesn't mean jack in terms of the size meal they can take.

Waiting for him to down that hopper, then gonna give him the second one :) My boys HUUNGRY

UPDATE: Waited for the 2nd one to reach his belly and offered the 2nd hopper... I've honestly never seen him attack his food so quickly.

*Present 2nd hopper to S.M.* "Hey bud, ya still h---" *SNAP! Hahah

If he's shy why don't you just feed him in his enclosure where he feels more secure???

I'm nervous about him eating some of his substrate, he also has such a tiny tank that if I put it on a paper towel or something I feel like he'd eat that too lol or at least it would get caught in the mix and the last thing i wanna do is reach in while he's goin to work. Im still very new to all this. Just happy he ate both :)

I would feed him in his enclosure too. That will help a lot I'm sure. I wouldn't worry about substrate. They digest bones...

If he's that shy the stress of moving him back in could cause regurgitation. Nobody cleans the ground for them to eat in the wild... they eat whatever is stuck to the prey... dirt, who knows what else. The small amount of substrate that could possibly ingested is really nothing compared to a regurgitation

I have aspen and always feed in my enclosure and never had any problems with them eating the substrate..

Dude, think in the wild, when they make kills. Ofcourse these things will have rocks n dirty twigs whatever on them,no difference bro..it's not like he'd be eating a lb of bedding..my guy had a little piece stuck in his mouth last week..when he was done, picked him up and removed it and placed him back. Pretty easy
