    surprise!
I have heard of the fascinating practice of giving pets as presents and would love to hear the stories. What fun animals did you get as presents, or give to others, and what clever ways were these done? The random turn on a light and get tackled by a mastiff, or climb into bed and hear squeaking and find a little puppy snuggled up, or it could be the take your friend to the place where he's going to pick out the pet you're getting for him.
sadly i have no story, just a I-wish-I-could story. My boyfriend isn't a pet person and not the kind of person who could be surprised with an pet he didn't pick out himself. Around Christmas last year he wanted a western hognose and if i could have gotten away with it i would have gotten one of those clear plastic ornaments, put the baby hognose in it, and hung it from the tree right before we went to open presents.

I'm too picky for surprises like that...and my wife knows it. :gj:

She did surprise me years ago when we were at a reptile show and she let me get a Spider ball python...that was back when they were a little bit more expensive than they are these days...:D

Last December (way to cold to ship animals) I asked my boyfriend to bring me to a specific pet shop because "they were the only ones that carried what I needed". We went there and he immediately went to look at the reptiles. From across the store I heard him yell my name. He was standing in front of a cage that had a sign on it saying "Merry Christmas, from Rissa". After many phone calls I had finally located a store that carried his dream lizard, a little baby Frilly :) they were kind enough to label the cage and hold him until we got there!
