Burn Damage?

Hey fellow ball lovers. It's been a while since I posted here, but I hope I can get some help.

Last night, I left my ball's uth on for a little longer than usual. During the day, the temp is set at 90F and when I come home, I lower it to 80F. I'm aware that there's a bit of a temperature differential because the uth sticks to the glass, and ultimately makes the glass hotter than the temperature might read, so I generally try to keep it around those two ranges. When I pulled him out to check on him, his belly - excluding the neck up - was peachy-pink. This has happened before, but only in small sections, and it fades after an hour or so. This morning, he is still pink and there's a little bit of dimpling in some of his scales. I switched back to his overhead light last night, and turned off the uth, for fear of the damage getting any worse. I've attached some pictures, one with flash one without.

He's on 2in deep shredded coconut husk, which is scooped and sifted regularly. Two hides on opposite sides, one with sphagnum moss which is misted daily. Humidity is kept around 40%, and bumped to 70% when he's looking to shed. Has a water dish easily large enough to hold him if he needs it, but I never see him soak. I use a med sized zoomed uth, attached to a zilla regulator (not a dimmer.) Before I got the uth, he was scarcely active, and stuck to his warm hide under the lamp. Once I finally got a regulator and arranged his setup for a uth, he became more active at night, which was nice to see. He doesn't seem to be expressing any other signs of discomfort. Has never refused a meal, and it's been about 5 weeks since his last shed.

If you guys aren't sure what it may be, I'll take him down to a local reptile store run by breeders - same place I picked him up from.

do you have a temp gun to see how hot the spot is actually getting? Where are you placing the regulator probe?

I don't have a temp gun, and the probe is in the tank, on top of the uth and down in the substrate.

I just got a temp gun about 2 weeks ago,it's worth it..I also keep my thermometer inside my tank in middle of the UTH below the aspen and I keep it at 88-90... Hot side air 86. Never any burns,works for me perfectly

X2 I would get a secondary therm and a temp gun, that way you can check the actual temp vs what you are setting.

They may not be burns, but it may r your snake going into a shed cycle. I know a lot of my snakes get pinkish in color when they are going to shed. But definitely keep an eye on it and make sure you keep your temps correct.

UTH's can get super hot. Those "temp controllers" you get from the pet store won't do a very good job, I would really suggest looking into a better thermostat online. The cheapest one you could get that does a decent job is the ReptiTemp 500R. Otherwise I would suggest a Johnson or even something like a herpstat if possible. UTH's can be just as dangerous as flex watt or heat tape without the right equipment to control the heat.

Doesn't look like a burn to me. Echoing what previous posters have said, you will be in a better spot once you know the exact temps...if you feel you need a thermostat then a decent one costs around $35.

X2, i grabbed one for a backup (and just because I was curious) and was suprised how well it worked.
