    Paper substrate absorbency?
Tried to get some of the unused newspaper rolls from my local paper. Unfortunately they already have aaa contract to sell all of it to a vendor. They did give me 2 rolls of white paper that seems like the same weight as copy paper. It reminds me of the stuff school teachers use for art projects or banners.

Have any of you used this instead of newspaper? Is it absorbent enough?

Using newspaper and paper is just nasty..just use a substrate like aspen or c.h or c.m.

I think it would absorb eventually, but probably not before there was a huge mess. Paper towels work well, and they're pretty cheap if you have a way to buy them in bulk (Costco, Sam's, etc). It looks fine and makes cleaning up super easy.

I have used this before, my ex's father worked for the newspaper, and I found that having it in 3 layers was perfect. Great at absorbing liquid and did not create a smell at all. Also it was super easy to clean out and cut my cleaning time in half from using paper towels and by even more over aspen or anything like that.

It's not nasty, and I've had it recommended to me (both of them) for animals who present symptoms of an RI.

They have their use, though in your inexperience, I don't think you'd quite know that.

I don't think copy paper would be good idea at all. If you wanna use paper then stick with newspaper, paper towels, kraft paper, paper bags, etc.

Using paper substrate isn't nasty at all. Every time my snakes make a mess the whole tub gets wiped down. Compared to just "spot cleaning" with wood substrate where you could miss something, i don't see how paper is nasty. Both methods work, i've just found that i prefer paper. :gj:
