My BP is refusing food, need advice
My fiance and I have a ball python that we've had since May. No clue on her age but she's a little over two feet long. She's always been a great eater and we'd been feeding her medium mice twice a week up until a little over a month ago, when we fed her a large one. Since then she's had maybe one medium mouse and aside from that, has been refusing food. It's been around two weeks since she last ate and both of us are concerned. Does anyone have any suggestions to get her to eat, or any info on what may be causing this? :confusd: For as long as we've had her we have never had a problem like this - she ate consistently when we first got her and she had mites, she ate if we handled her beforehand, and she ate even when she was shedding. Now she doesn't want to eat even though and we haven't been handling her before feedings. I'm worried about my little girl and I want her to be okay. Any advice is welcome! Thanks :snake:

Please describe your set-up for her with cage size, temperature, etc... . Feeding twice a week is unnecessary if you are using appropriately sized prey items...the current "gold standard" for sub-adult and adult specimens of Python regius is food every 7-14 days. The prey should make a slight "lump" in the snake. What is her weight?

Cage is a 40 gallon glass tank, aspen bedding. Hides on both warm and cool sides and warm side gets to about 85-90 degrees, cool side is about 75 degrees. Humidity is usually around 40-50% but when shedding is up to about 70%. We use heat lamps with day and night bulbs to provide warmth, no UTH because the risk of those overheating freaks me out.

She is a bit young (by size) to be on a seasonal fast and it is mostly males, though it is far from impossible. As long as she is not losing significant body mass then I would just give her a good 2-3 weeks off then try again. You can try leaving the prey in over night...I have a young pastel who prefers this at the moment. Set-up sounds good.
