BP Won't Finishing Eating
Hi all,
I have a male ball python that is approximately 700 grams. The past couple weeks he has been giving me some issues with eating. I offer him pre killed small rodents. Last week he struck the rat as usual and coiled it but after he had finished coiling it, it took him about 45 minutes to find the head of it and actually swallow it. This week same story I offer the rat as usual he strikes goes into a coil but the difference is this week after he was finished coiling the rodent he showed absolutely no interest in feeding. After several attempts to escape from the feeding tub I took him and put him back into regular tub. What's confusing me is when I put him into his feeding bin he goes right into a feeding response. I have had him for about 6 months and until the past two weeks have had no issues with him eating. Should I be concerned? Any suggestions?

Possibly just a seasonal fast, I would wait 2-3 weeks and give it another shot. There is no need for concern so long as he is not losing significant weight.
Re: BP Won't Finishing Eating
Try feeding him in his enclosure for the next scheduled feed. Maybe even try live as a last resort in a few weeks.
But know that its not abnormal for a male at his size to go off feed for the breeding season.
