Suggestions for a small plastic box?
So I got an idea from tinley for a DIY display case, which I want to try and build. I am looking for a small plastic box of some sort to use though. normal acrylic display spots seem to be around 8 inches long and about 4 inches wide. and a few inches high, so I am looking for something around that size, but anything usable would be nice to know about. Was just wondering if anyone already had a good idea before I go searching the endless world of plastic boxes, bins, and tubs. basically it is a rack with glass top so you can see the animals, so picture a tub that could be used in a rack.

    thanks in advance

I'm a bit of a target fiend, that's where I get all of my tubs. I'd imagine something like this would work: http://www.target.com/p/room-essenti...ot=medium_3_46

Maybe if you can find it in a different color, unless that tickles your fancy :) I'm trying to picture what you're going for... Is it basically these little baskets, for lack of a better word, arranged on a multi level table and topped with glass? Were they going to be secured in any way, or are you going for ease of setup/teardown and just leave them free standing? Hope that helps, if not, let me know what other features you'd like, and I can try to put my google skills to use!

looks like what I asked for, just can't do the 5 bucks a tub, but I do know target sometimes has 6 packs of tubs when I have bought them so maybe I'll have to go in store and see what they got. Thanks. Basically what I am thinking is something like a normal 3 tier stack:

glass on top of each shelf, tubs slide in through the back which I can secure and also heat

    Try the Container Store.
They have clear tubs like that for $1-2 each.

Gotcha! Sounds like a neat project. I'd definitely check them out in person, their in store prices are typically much better than online, especially if on clearance. I got my 6 qt tubs in a 5 pack for around $5.50. Good luck, and definitely post pics of the finished product!

Well I finally found some discontinued tubs sterlite made that I think are just what I'm looking for. 1.2 qt, 5 5/8 wide, 7 3/8 long, and 3 1/4 tall. I should be able to fit 4 wide in a 2 foot display with an inch to spare. Now I just need to figure out where to get glass cut to the size I need or I need to learn to cut glass lol.

Thanks for looking though and thanks for that container store website.

If my vote counts for anything, I say pay someone to do it for you :) Glass is a PITA. Maybe a window replacement shop? I wouldn't get it cut at a hardware store, my local one couldn't even cut a sheet of plexi properly.

Well I lucked out and the guy I get rat food from also builds aquarium tanks, so he cut my glass. Now that it is cut I started seeing how my idea goes together, already finding some things I'm going to change for the rest of them, but I think it might work. Quick pic of the mock up, apparently I couldn't even stay still to take a picture, it's a little cold out.
