    Finished Terrarium questions
Okay so I "finished" building my guys terrarium (as if we ever are) and im looking for pointers on how I could make it better! I cant seem to get the vine to "flow naturally" with the tank for some reason.. Also did I add too much moss?

Oh yeah and sorry, just humidified it :)

also hes a juvenile... I know the tank is huge but he is doing well, plus I have been taping paper around the bottom edge of the tank so he cant see out for now

Looks great where are your temps and humidity at? the only thing I would suggest because hes a smaller snake ina big tank is more hides. Even though He can use the plants for cover id add one more hid on the cool side. Also you need to drop those thermometers to ground level to get a accurate reading. Id invest in a cheap accurite digital thermometer. I had one like that and sometimes there off by 10 degrees or more. I don't trust them.
Other than that you have a great looking enclosure im sure he will be happy with all that clutter

    thanks for the compliment!

yeah gauges are garbage which is bad. im looking into the digital ones but I have yet to find one at a decent price.

been keeping the temp around 82-84 on the warm side and the humidity im just eyeballing to be honest im fairly sure the hydrometer doesnt work properly at all.

so yeah its safe to say the last thing I really need are proper gauges and probably a more powerful bulb

You can increase security by taping a background to entirely cover the back and 2 sides of the tank. Like the fish tanks. Or get one of those naturalistic cork tiles that you wedge to the inside of the tank (see my avatar, it has my tank with cork tile backbround). It will pull the look of that hanging vine together into the scenery so that it doesn't seem like it's just "hanging out of nowhere".

Is that a real plant? Real plants are difficult to maintain when the snake gets bigger. They are heavy bodied and would flatten a plant. I use one of those silk ones that stay alright after getting trampled on by a 3000+g snake.

    Looks nice!

no its not a real plant, the moss is the only real vegetation in there. I love the look of the cork but this tank is only a foot wide so I felt like it might take up too much space. I also cant find a terrarium background that will fit the height of this thing! its 4'x1'x18". Im thinking of black or brown construction paper? not sure.

another thing tho... these suction cups are NOT going to hold him for long on that vine. I can never tell what people use to fix their vines to their tanks can anybody enlighten me?

oh and apparently he is pretty happy just caught him out lol :)

Looks nice :). 82-84 on the warm side? Air temp or hot spot?

The aquarium backgrounds are fairly cheap and they attach to the outside of the tank and you can cut them to size. Construction paper or packaging paper works too! Still attached to the outside of the tank.

I attach my vines and leaves through a hole on the screen top so the attachments are outside of the tank. I don't use the suction cups. I tie it with those zip tie thingees for computer cables. I use a pin to untie the zip tie so I can undo it to clean.

hmmm.... so when you lift the lid do you just lift out the vines with it??? yeah these suction cups are actually for aquarium equipment but they were the only thing I could find that would work
