    Blonde Pastel Question?
What makes a Blonde Pastel and what would you use to prove it out? Where does the Blonde come from?

A blond pastel is just a blood line of pastels. There is no way to prove it out definativly, nor is there really a reason to do so.

Why not prove it out? Or can it not be done? Also where did the bloodline come from, what makes it a Blonde?

Blonde is Matt Turner's line of pastel. Blonde is the name of the bloodline. Matt got a wild caught pastel and started his own line.

Its like saying Lemon Pastel is NERDs line of the pastel mutation. Citrus Pastel is Amir's line of pastel. Etc etc.

All are the same genetic mutation(pastel), but have different lineages and descend from different wild caught animals.

Unless you got a blonde straight from Matt, all you have is someone word that a Blonde pastel is actually a Blonde line pastel.

Yea this is what I was wandering. I was told that one of my Pastels was bought from Matt and was a "Blonde", But wasnt sure what he meant by that so was asking. Thanks for clarifying that for me!

you can take any two of these nice line-bred pastels, and breed them together to get a nice super pastel. then, when you would breed the super pastel to a normal, you would no longer be able to tell them apart. and that then proves that they are similar and compatible.

its a bit like ghost/hypo, where you have just regular hypo and then a few different lines of hypo that are compatible.

like in any market, people like to brand their stuff, when a big breeder thinks he finally managed to produce pastels that are consistently above average the breeder will be tempted to brand it.

Just an addition, if you don't get the line directly from the source of the line you might not have a "pure line" snake. Just something for people to keep in mind. So many pastels get mixed together that you may not know what line you have anymore. In my case, I have Lemon (NERD) and Graziani pastels and I know they will eventually get mixed, those babies will just be "pastels" because I won't know which is which. The same thing happens with combo morphs with the pastel gene, a lot of breeders don't label the pastel line.

In my opinion, line is less important than looks with age. I really don't care what line they are as long as they still look good after a few years.
