    A Snake's prayer
    When a puppy goes home from my work, we give the customer a copy of a Dog's Prayer by Beth Norman Harris. Ive read it numerous times, and thought itd be nice to tweak it a little for snakes. I know it anthropomorphizes, but hey, so does the dog one. Enjoy
    A Snake's Prayer
    Treat me kindly my keeper, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
    Do not forget about me, or deny me the things I need, though I should slither through your hand and flicker my tongue, and never hiss, as your understanding and attention will more quickly make me aware of the things you would have me do.
    Speak to me often, for even though I cannot hear as you do, your voice is the world's sweetest music, and it lets others know you think of me.
    When it is cold, please keep me warm... for I depend upon you to provide me with the things I need to keep myself comfortable.... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of watching you from my cage......I would rather rest my coils around your arm, than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest place in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted pet.
    Keep my bowl filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me healthy prey, that I may stay well, to slither and climb, and entertain you with my antics, to rest quietly by your side, and be ready, willing and able to provide you with company, should your life be sad or lonely.
    And, beloved keeper, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

    Very nice! Although I see most of the snakes I've known as more like most of the cats I've known, so the devoted master/god bit makes me snicker.

    THE PRAYER OF THE CAT
    Oh my master, do not take me for a slave, for I have in me a taste for liberty:
    Do not seek to divine my secrets, for I have in me a taste for mystery;
    Do not constrain me with caresses, for I have in me a taste for modesty,
    Do not humiliate me, for I have in me a taste for pride,
    Do not abandon me, for I have in me a taste for fidelity,
    Love me and I will love thee, for I have in me a taste for friendship.

    Ugh Crystal that made me cry a little bit.... I think I'm gonna make this a wall-hanging when I have some spare pennies to get it printed and framed up real nice. :')
