Feeder with possible eye infection... Safe to feed?
This popped up, as far as I can tell, in the past 7 or 8 hours. I checked on the rats (I have two in a small wire cage right now) when I checked on the snakes at about 10 AM, I didn't notice anything, then I checked on them again and noticed her left eye was swollen up. One of my friends, who keeps rats as pets and has had sick ones, says she wouldn't feed it off to her snakes. I have no problem euthanizing if that is the case, but I won't have the ability to set up a kill chamber with CO2 until Thursday or Friday at the soonest, and am rather worried about the other rat in the cage with her, which is a pet that is growing out to go in with our other, larger females. The sick one doesn't seem to even notice the infection. She's grooming and eating and moving around like a normal rat. I haven't noticed them fighting, and there's nothing sharp in the cage - they're on paper bedding, and haven't found anything sharp in the cage since I noticed her.

It looks rather mild. Maybe she got it scratched by another rat.
Now if only somebody was hungry! (Well somebody is, but she had a 175 gram rat yesterday and does NOT need one that's almost 150 grams)

A few drops of Colloidal silver will probably clear that up. Coleslaw told me shes had similar issues and that was the best solution.
Or you could just feed it off lol.

Just to let people know it got something in its eye mostly the bedding it wasn't caused by a scratch when they get a scratch or cut to the eye it looks a lot different when i have this happen all i do is use water and wash out the eye a few time over the next few days and that will fix it
