Squirrel Hunt?

We have a lot of squirrels & chipmunks around here, and i have an air rifle. I have thought about this before but i was worrying about the parasites and stuff, then i was like what if i throw'em into the freezer for a couple of month, whatever's inside those damn squirrels ain't gonna stay alive in that sort of environment, right? just wondering if anyone here has done it before, way to save some money lol :snake:

Just don't. Not even getting into the biology of all potential parasites or the lead poisoning potential. Or that freezing is not the same as cooking.
If you can't afford to feed your snakes sell them or give them to someone who can.
If you need to thin out local rodents by all means but dispose of the carcass properly.

just dont. you are talking about needless destruction of wild animals here.

this is not like picking up some mice and rats at a farm that is being overrun by them.

you are considering to hunt and kill wild animals to.... for what? save a dollar or two? :mad: its not ok. your ethics seem a bit off when it comes to nature / the environment.

Because snakes do not skin, nor gut, nor fry their prey.

Some people have also contracted fatal prion diseases from eating squirrels.

If you have time and energy to put into hunting you have time to either work extra shifts to pay for your pets or breed your own rats. Just my $0.02. There is no sense in harming wildlife unless needed. Also the risk to your snakes is not worth it. If you breed your own you know they are fed a good diet etc. that may be worth considering. I hear it isn't hard but it is a little smelly.

As much as I love hunting, I wouldn't do it. Mainly due to concerns of lead poisoning, parasites and having your snakes taking a preference to squirrel and nothing else.

I dont know about chipmunks, but squirrels are really good to eat! I use to hunt them and have a wonderful dinner.
