My BP,is he scared of me or just shy??
Anyone else's snake make a run for cover when they see you...when my guy comes out which is usually for a few hours only at night ,if I walk towards the tank,he either freezes or bolts to his hide. Sometimes he's cool and just goes about his business..he is very nice and sweet, not a mean bone in his body, eats ,shed fine. Heat, humidity everything is good. I'm very good to him and very mellow. I'm wondering is this common with BPs.

Sounds to me like you either A. have an extemely shy snake or B. have been too aggressive with handling and the snake now fears you being around. My only suggestion is very patient and calm handling. Never get frustrated, and never be overly dast/ aggressive when going to handle the animal. As always with ball pythons, patience is key ;-)

My pastel is very shy. If he is out cruising his enclosure he will freeze if I walk by or go back in his hide. My normal and my lesser don't seem to care what I do when they are out and about. It just depends on the snake I think.

V2, I'm def not aggressive handling him...I have plenty of patience. I honestly can't believe how mild tempered he is. He really is a good snake. After he was out a while,he saw me he just went about his business. I took some pics of him cruising around the tank. I'm gonna go with shy to be honest.. He is also very head shy as well.

crystal that's good to hear was curious. Cause I def have patience with Kocur..I figured it may be common with some snakes and there personalities. A song as he's nice I have no problems

I didnt mean agressive as in grabing him by his tail and swinging him out of his ta k or anything like that. Was simply coming up with ideas as to what the issue could be to clarify. Yeah sounds to me ljke you have your self a bit of a shy snake. Its common, and can be handled easily by just calmly handling him often and for increasing amounts of time.

Ive got me a little het girl that os taking plenty of patience as well. Isnt affraid at all, just very bitey LOL. Shes starting to come around now.

I was holding him ths morning and he was very very cool and calm, not as bad dead shy either.. He was good this morning, like always when I hold him. He seems to be getting more confident as he gets older and bigger. He's growing fairly fast. I'm sure that contributes to confidence, plus him knowing I feed him and not gonna hurt him.
