Does he just not get it???
I have a *roughly* 2 foot long Aztec Phase California Kingsnake and I was handling him and he bit me, he also seems aggressive and gets in striking position when I put my hand in the tank, my question is: are Kingsnakes generally aggressive? or could it be just lack of handling him, the previous owner didn't take care of him at all, had him living in a tool box. Also, what do they eat regularly? I fed him one fuzzie mouse so far since I've had him, which is like 3 days..any feedback would be appreciated.

Well it sounds like you rescued him.Cali kings are known to be nippers, but it all depends on the individual snake. If he was kept in a tool box, then more than likely he will have an attitude for a while until he gets to know and trust you. As for the food, I imagine that Cali kings would eat adult mice full grown. I've never owned one but I think they are "slim" snakes full grown. Just feed a mouse or rat pup no bigger than the widest part of you snakes body.

Cal kings are moody and nippy - especially when young and especially when mistreated. As Danielle said, feed prey equal to the widest part of it's body. Any idea of age?

I think over time he will get better - just be sure to move very slowly around him and make sure you don't have any other snake or animal scents on you.

I have no clue about his age, I really dont know much period, cept the fact he was mistreated by my brothers friend, who owned him. He kept him in a tool box with no heat source or anything, he did however provide water, which surprises me.

The fuzzie mouse I fed him was about the same size around his the snakes body, he's thin, Im gonna feed him fuzzies for awhile since he took it very quickly. Now I just gotta get my BP to eat hehe.

    So excited...
I'd try one fuzzy every 5-7 days until he's ready to move up to the next size-and then go every 7 days. Poor little guy - well not anymore...he's got you. :)
