    Is burrowing Normal?
Had my BP for a week today. The first 3-days she would just be in her hides from the hot and cool side the the fourth day she burrow herself on the cool side near the glass, (5th day) the morning when I fed her she was on the hot side in her hide, and since then she burrow herself under the hide on the cool side and been there since only having her head poked/poking out. Is this normal? The temps are: 86-90 on hot side-79-83 on cool side humidity is 50-63 misting 2-3 times a day. Measuring the humidity with an accurite humidity and temp that is set in the middle of the tank the ones you can purchase from Wal-mart...I'am also checking the temps with a REPTITEMP® Digital Infrared Thermometer. Oh yea, is it safe to try and pick her up while she is burrowing (insecurity)? You know, it's been a week and also 2-days since she ate I would like to interact with her. Let me add: UTH is on the hot side.

    It is very normal.

She is probably moving around at night, check in on her at 11PM and she's probably cruising around.

If you wanna handle her, just pick her up :) It's safe.

This is similar to what my baby royal does all day. Its just her way of regulating her temperature and seeking security when she needs it. It is perfectly natural. As long as she is still coming out to eat, drink, and move to regulate her temperature, she should be fine.

For some reason she prefers to be on the cool side on the tank 81-84, other than the hot side 86-91. I will catch her poking her head out but not to which moving. Well finally this morning after feeding her a rat pinkie, tonight she was finally moving a bit but usually staying on the cool side...Oh yea every time (3 times) when I un-buried her she gets in a defense mode until i finally get a hold on her.

My baby will still go into morph-ball mode when I reach in to handle her, but once she realizes she is safe she uncoils herself and begins exploring. Each snake has their own personality and temperament, so it will be a learning process for you both. Give it time, and with some snake-style TLC, you both will do just fine :-)
