i was wondering if ball pythons enjoy swimming. my bp's water dish is definantly big enough to soak in if he wanted too, but im not so sure he does want too. i tried soaking him before, when he was near shedding, but he diddnt seem to like it at all. i put him in the bath tub and i kept my arm in the tub in case he wanted to crawl out but he never let go of my hand. he seemed almost scared lol. i have not tried soaking him since then but i was wondering if all ball pythons are nervous of water or if its just an individual thing

Looking for a cb baby 1.0 ball python in the ohio area
rex is the same way. i soaked him once, to be sure that he had no mites. i had to keep placing him back in. adrian, my BCI, on the other hand, loves water. she soaked the first night i had her

Alexa, actually doesn't mind the water. She'll go exploring the tub for a while. When she's ready she tries to crawl out, but not before her 15 min is up :)

Yeah, don't shove your BPs head inside the water ... the water should be deep enough for its body.

id say a good inch or two

    mine...well, didnt care about anything

lol, i put him in about an inch an a half - two inches of water, and he sat there, i thought he was getting used to it, so i waited to see if after a while, he'd move, but nope, after 20 min. the water cooled a couple degrees, so i took him out, and put him in his cage, havent soaked since

Mine drinks like a lush, pretty much every time her head goes anywhere near the water bowl. Hates water under any other circumstances though, whether soaking or misting.

If I put the lid on Monty Joe's 5qt rubbermaid water dish, he use's it as a hide, so I quit using the lid. Now he will just skim over it once in a while.

speaking of misting, is it neccesary to mist at all if you are providing a bowl of water? i have read some places that you should mist every day, and other places say only to mist when the snake is in shed.
