advice on some shy ball pythons

Anyone have any tips on how to socialize ball pythons? I have 2 who I have had for about 8 months. Both of them are nice snakes but no matter how often I take them out of their cages and handle them, continue to be afraid of EVERYTHING. I Don't keep them out very long. I try not to move quickly. No matter what they seem terrified. They Don't bite at all. I guess I was just hoping they would get to be friendly and want attention like my previous snake (who died tragically and whom I still miss). Any thoughts?

They actually don't "want" attention, rather they put up with us humans.
But as with dogs, cats, etc.. they are all different and one can not compare another to a previous one (so sorry to hear about your loss) or a friends, etc.

At first I would only get her out in the room her enclosure is in (its a spare bedroom she shares with two turtle tanks). As she got more comfortable, I traveled to bigger parts of my apartment.
Start slow if you have to, patience is the key

Keep socializing them. Some just take a long time to relax.

Keep them out until they calm down and open up and crawl around. Sometimes it can take 15 minutes of just holding them very still for them to do that. After a few times they will realize balling up is not necessary.
