Goodbye, sweet Bubbles. (Slightly disturbing images.)

Sigh. Felt it was time I wrote this. Those of you who know me already know, but....last night I discovered that Bubbles, my hatchling hoggie, had vanished. I clearly remembered putting her away carefully the day before, after briefly handling her for the first time since I purchased her last Saturday. I checked the tub of my other newly purchased baby snake, Mwezi, a Mexican Kingsnake. As soon as I saw Mwezi, I knew I had screwed up. So badly. And it cost poor Bubbles her life. Mwezi had killed and consumed bubbles, like any Kingsnake would.
I had no idea I had put her back in the wrong tub. I don't know why I did it. I still can't quite believe it.

When I could face it today, I took some pictures of Mwezi. It's horrible, and sad, but at the same time fascinating and amazing that Mwezi could eat a snake nearly her size, and be perfectly fine. She's....lumpy, but she's fine.

At least Mwezi's okay. I can't blame her, of course- she was just doing what comes natural. I'll still be sad for awhile about my tiny baby, though.

I know you feel horrible. I feel horrible just reading it so I couldn't imagine how you feel with it happening to you. I hope that you're okay and at least your baby hoggie is in heaven now. I give you credit for posting this as a lot of people probably wouldn't because of a fear that they'd get jumped on but I think this just goes to show us to be more careful especially when housing different species of snakes. May your baby RIP.

I found the prettiest picture I could online and put her name on it so you can lay her to rest now.

I'm so sorry. *hugs* I've made a mistake before that cost one of my ducks his life (NM summer and water bucket had gotten tipped over in their coop, since it was such a big bucket I didn't think they could do that and water never was consumed that fast so I didn't check it that day). It's an awful feeling I know. You've just gotta learn from it and carry on. *hugs* I wish there was something I could do or say to make you feel better.

I am so, so sorry for your loss, Anya. I know it will take time to cope, but just remember that mistakes do happen, and though it's a painful lesson, it's certainly one to learn. My heart aches for you.

Oh wow, I'm so sorry :( <3 don't kick yourself too hard- everyone makes mistakes and it's not like you did it deliberately.

I heard a story from an reptile education group I volunteer with who were setting up for an event with an veteran staff member. Apparently he didn't register 'kingsnake' and put two adults in the same enclosure on accident. Someone asked why they were acting so weird, and right as they looked over... they bit each other. Fortunately that didn't end badly other then some very red ears on the staff members part- both snakes were fine, disgruntled that they were both deprived of a snack, but fine. But goes to show you, everyone makes errors<3

I'm very sorry this happened to you and my heart goes out to you. As already said accidents happen and no one should criticize you for this (not that I think anyone will) because everyone has made some kind of mistake in their life. Also from your post I can tell you're beating yourself up enough as is. Don't be too hard on yourself. It will get better with time.
