    Best Thermostat?
So I have been using heat lamps for my snakes and I like how they provide a steady source of heat. However, I have to mist a ridiculous amount to keep humidity levels where they need to be. I want to switch to under tank heaters and I have already purchased them. I don't want to plug them in yet though because of how hot they get. What thermostats does everyone recommend? I don't know if I trust the ones at petsmart or not.

herpstat x2. you COULD go with cheaper ones now.. but you'll end up needing to buy a better one later on. might as well go with the best first go around and save money in the long run. herpstats LAST.

Then again we all wear different underwear too:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I have a helix that I like, a broken herp in the trash and several VEs that I love and are easy to set. Plus Rich is just about on call if you have any questions.

I have a Vivarium Electronics VE-200D with proportional control (a big selling point on the Herpstats as well) that seems to perform very well. Although for some set-ups a dual zone unit might work even better.

This is a piece of hardware that I honestly would suggest getting the best you can afford that meets your requirements (i.e. don't spring for a Herpstat 4/ VE-300X2 if you only plan on keeping a single pet).
Another thing to look into is the maximum wattage you expect to use and what the unit is rated for. Most manufactures are pretty generous in the max wattage area but, you definately do not want to exceed that rating. I prefer to keep it at or under 80% of the rated output.

I have a VE-200 and a herpstat 2. I prefer the Herpstat because it looks cooler.
