    Mojave plus something extra.....maybe?
I posted a quick pic of this girl when she hatched. Now that she has shed and fed a few times I thought I'd take some better pics. I need some opinions on this girl. I'm calling her a "granite" Mojave (for lack of a better term), but it looks nothing like other granite Mojaves I have seen. It's more of a peppered/speckled look. I have a few others from the clutch, but this is the best example. She has more side "peppering" than any other Mojave that I have seen. Almost every alien head that touches the belly has the peppering.

Am I seeing something different, or just a very "dirty" Mojave?

I have been working with this bloodline for a few years now, but I was only breeding normals at the time. I have been producing "peppered" babies for a while. I was just calling them "dirty". Thank you for any input.

pictures of parents, clutchmates, and grandparents will surely help :) Breeding to prove it out will also help a lot. I hope you have excellent documentation.

apart from that i have to say it really looks awesome and surely not like just a mojave.

Yes I keep very well documentation. These are 2nd generation. The original parents came from Ben Seigel in 1998 and 2001. I have been dismissing all the pepper spotting as just dirty normals. This year I was not trying for the peppered look, but it came out in 2 clutches. All the parents this year have the same sire from 2001.

I'm going to breed a Lesser to my 2009 female(pepper producer) and see if any pepper Lessers come out. Lessers are normally pretty clean. If some peppered lessers come out, than something for sure is going on.

Maybe so, but I have been looking at every Mojave I can find and none of them have this many spots on their sides. Maybe a spot here or there, but not on every alien head......

You MAY have a genetic pattern from a pairing a while ago, but it looks pretty straight forward to me.

I see one spot on yours. Does it have more? I have seen Mojaves with some spotting, but mine has them in every "alien head" that touches the belly. Seems a bit more for a plain Mojave.

If it is genetic, I don't think it's anything huge. But if can add spots to places that normally don't have them......Think of a BEL with black "peppering" on the sides. I don't even know if that's possible without the BEL just making everything white. That's were I'm going next. Don't know until you try:confusd:

I get what you're going for, it could be a granite of sorts or you could have a "high spotting" line.

    Never know till you try!

From what I've seen, I don't think it's granite. Unless it's something new. All Granite Mojaves I've seen have funky looking patterns. Whether it be a dom or codom granite.
