Ambient Room Temperature for Tub?

Hey Everyone,
I've been reading and learning quite a bit on BP.net. I saw a post that concerned me. It mentioned that you shouldn't use tubs if your rooms ambient temperature is less than 80 degrees. I keep my house around 73. What setup would you recommend in this circumstance? A fish tank ( aren't those frowned upon?) with an UTH and a heat lamp? I don't have a BP yet.....just busy learning and asking questions so I can provide the best home possible.

I have a rack system that open aired (no sides or solid back) and I use a space heater hooked up to a thermostat. Works like a charm because I just have it pointed at my rack so it only heats that space and not the entire room.

I remember reading a thread on here about a member that uses a rack with their house around 70F. He modified it enough to insulate it and help keep the temp from the heat tape in. He was able to get 80F that way. Lot of work but might be worth it. I really want a rack system but since you can't heat the air much with heat tape/cables you have to have the room temp around 80. My roomies keep the house too cold for that, so I have to go the T8 with radiant heat panels on each side route. Costs me around 400 each cage and it holds one snake on either side. The plus side is that I never have to worry about the temps or humidity. With the aquarium I was constantly misting and checking.

I keep my room hotter, I keep mine at 84-86 and use pretty much abundant, my hot spot is set to 89.5 my flexwat runs constantly around 9% never have had a problem since I switched to this..

I posted early. In my old house my family kept it cold... Like 70-72 and using the rack with flex-wat alone NEVER worked it was hot enough and it was a struggle to keep it warm, when I put my burm into a tank at the time and used a heat lamp my room stayed about 78 most of the time and it made it easier but it was still a pain... I'd recommend a small room with a space heater for a rack, or one you can hear separately, if Not it won't be pretty..

I have a 6 tub, 41qt, solid walled rack I built myself in my bedroom. I designed it for this room to be 72-77 degrees. I chose 12" wide THG heat tape. Each piece is 15" long so it covers about 1/3 of the tub floor space. The reason for this was to have a large surface area providing the 90 degree hotspot and for the ambient heat from that to maintain the 79 degree cool side. I also have a limited number of holes only in the front of my tubs. All of these little tips help me keep good temps and humidity that almost never drops below 50% with minimal misting required. You can also see in one picture that I have a layer of bubble wrap insulation inside the back wall. 73 is fine. Used a closed sided rack to keep the temps up a little more.

True. He also doesn't have a BP yet and is rather intelligently looking into what is required for husbandry before getting one, given his current house environment.

So, my questions for the OP... How many are you planning on getting? Are you planning on keeping them in a more open part of the house (e.g. downstairs on display) or in a bedroom that you can heat and cool indepently of the rest of the house? Are you planning to get into breeding? Your answers will help determine the type of enclosure you need.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I plan on keeping them in my bedroom which will be a constant 73 degrees. I don't plan on breeding but I do think I'll want more than one BP. I've seen racks that can hold 5 tubs. I think 5 snakes would be my limit. Yes originally I was talking about only one tub. My biggest concern is the 73 degree ambient temperature room. So you guys think it can be done? Just want to make the BP happy and comfortable.
