My ETHS Pickups! 9-29 Houston, TX
So, first off, I went to the ETHS this year hoping to find a high white sugar to raise up and pair with my pewter male. I was setting myself up for disappointment as each table I went to was a miss. Alas, not today (shucks) however I did get a chance to talk to the breeder who sold me my first ever BP, a Pastel Female who I raised up from a hatchling into the 1300g momma she is today. She was paired to a Lesser Male and eggs are due in about a week and a half. Anyways, Ken McAlexander who run Ball Python Investments had quite the selection of mojaves and pieds and pastels and everything in between. He has been working heavily on the Fire VPI Axanthic projects and I would love to get into them! After looking through his selection I saw a pretty neat Hypo Mjoave Male that really called out to me, however I was disappointed that the only Hypo female he had was a Normal Hypo. (Drats! Was really hoping to have a second dom gene in there) So i looked around some more...

Apparently the Banana Ball Python project has really tanked. Shame really. Here's the only ones I saw at the show:

A Banana with a small kink. But maybe it would have been worth it for the price!

Secondly was this GORGEOUS Banana Red Stripe:

I'm still iffy about the whole banana project...so I decided to pass.

    Looked around some more...

Went back to Ken at Ball Python Investments and decided I was going to get the Hypo Mojave Male...

He had these 2 Male Mojave 100% het Hypos for sale in the bin next to the Hypo Mojave Male...for "shiz n giggles" I asked him to pop the two boys...well well well...one of them turned out to be a girl he thought he didn't bring to the show...So what the heck, I told him to bag up the female Mojave 100% Het Hypo and called it a win.

So, one thing I was made aware of was that the Hypo Mojave Male has a tiny kink, more like a small bump near the base of his tale after his vent. Visually near impossible to see and barely "feelable" Despite this minor "imperfection" that shouldn't have any hinderence with breeding, I think he is pretty dern stellar!

Now...I got one more spot on my rack to fill as of now...perhaps I will find my high white sugar female at a Repticon or the NARBC in arlington? ...To be continued.

I know I am...the price was so perfect...I just didn't want to make room in my rack for em! For some reason the guy said that as they get older they also tend to attract fruit flies. But apparently once they get older you can breed them and incubate them in the "oven" and get some banana breads!

Thanks btw. I think they are gorgeous too! So happy I had him double check those Mojave het hypos...else I probably would have walked home empty handed today.

I may have to give him a call and negotiate a price on the bananas for myself. The banana breads are definitely higher-end morphs. Of course, I have a secret ingredient that really makes them just irresistible...

    Great pick ups!

What's even better is that we found these bananas for sale at a table that was selling carpet pythons!
