Help Please. First Clutch Hatchling Problems
Hi all just a bit worried about two of my hatchlings. Hopefully someone may have some experience with this and be able to help me out.
Paring was Orange Dream and Orange hypo males to sugar female. Clutch yielded 5 good eggs and was incubated at 89.5 give or take a degree both ways. I cut small v flaps on day 54 all were out of the egg by day 64.
One of the eggs had a sugar in it that pipped but after 2 days still hadnt come out and had a considerable amount of yolk still left. I left it alone for another few days and then inspected it carefully. I noticed the snake had unattached from the yolk and that it hadnt absorbed any and also that the egg smelled horrible. Here are pictures of the snake.

The back 2/3 of the snake are very badly swollen. Is there a chance it is infected or something?

The other sugar took longer than any other to exit it's shell. Upon seeing it I realized something must be seriously wrong. This snake consumed all of its yolk, but it would seem that it had already gone bad or there was a problem already?

Its belly is almost twice as bad as the other sugars and it is red as well as lumpy.

Worried that it may be hardened yolk or stomach mass as I have seen in a number of other instances I pressed down upon the snake and it would seem to be squishy so I dont think it is a hard mass that needs to be passed. Both sugars are smaller and have smaller heads in comparison to the other normal that hatched in this clutch. Any help is very appreciated in dealing with this matter. This was my first clutch ever so I'm hoping things look up a bit for my 2 sugars. I think that one of them may be an orange dream sugar but I'm not certain. I'll start a new thread if they make it past the first shed for ID. Here are a picture of the two sugars side by side for comparison, one looks a lot more likea regular sugar to me whereas the other seems more reduced and orange.http://imageshack.us/scaled/medium/29/39j7.jpg

Thanks again for any help,
Cheers

It's hardened yolk..Soak in warm water for a few minutes and then gently palpate it out of them...What comes out will be nasty!

+1. this is about all you can really do. sometimes they will absorb it, but I would try to soak and push it out. a lot of people who just let them be, will lose them. good luck and let us know what you do and how it works out....
