    Tub size suggestions
So my big girl is in need of a larger tub. She is around 4.5 feet long and weighs little over 6lbs or so. Not full grown by any means. We in a few weeks, when we go to the Tinley Park show, we are looking at getting her larger rats. She is currently on medium rats once a week. Looking to increase it to large rats once a week. So we are expecting another growth spurt from her. She is currently in a 40qt Sterilite tub, which is not giving her the floor space she needs and she keeps dumping her water bowl. I don't think she realizes her size and she can't fit under it anymore. Very annoying, for I am changing the newspaper very often.

I was thinking of getting this as her next step up: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rubbermaid...-of-4/16539911

Opinions? Any other suggestions? I want to get her in the proper size enclosure.

Our male will also need to be moved up in tube size in about 6 months or so. I will be looking at getting him the same size of tub she is in.

That tub isn't big enough either. You want something at least 48 inches. The closest I found at Walmart was 44 inches and it's not clear. You might check the classifieds and Craigslist for a 4ft PVC cage. Sometimes you can pick one up cheap.

Back when I was reading up on bloods I found a formula that seemed to make a lot of sense as far as housing for them. You take the length of the snake in feet and multiply by 1.5. (f)X1.5= necessary amount of square feet needed. So in your case 4.5X1.5=6.75sq/ft. If I were you I would be looking for something in the 4X2' range equaling 8sq/ft of floor space.

So here is what my boyfriend and I have decided. We are going to get a larger tub soon, which she will use until tax return time, then we are going to invest in two 48" by 24" Animal Plastic terrarium cages.

Look into Iris VE175 tubs, you can usually find them around Christmas time at your local Walmart, Target, Home Depot etc.

They are sold as Christmas Tree Storage Container.
