Ok I have recently about 3 weeks ago got my first BP. He's a baby Ghost. I told the guy I had a 40 gallon high and he told me that's WAY TO BIG,he said a 10 gallon is fine and that his are fine and content in a shoe box size home. I'm sorry, I have to differ. These animals are animals that roam free out in the real world. Just cause they are mellow and laid back and hide doesn't mean they don't like to move around. Mine is in 40 gallon and has no fear roams the tank all day long,climbing vines and plants and slithering all over the place.

I know most people keep these and there snakes in these bin set ups,well I think it's wrong and not fair to the animal. This is my opinion. I'd never put my snake in an enclosure where they can't slither around and climb and enjoy life. I have 2 cats and well point is I'm a big animal person at heart. S I have strong opinions on certain topics.

I think the idea of using small enclosures are that they can act as hides themselves. If you use a large enclosure and provide enough cover, that should be better so they can hide when they want, and also have enough room to roam.

Honestly, if your snake is climbing all day, that's a sign of insecurity in the animal. He's looking for hiding places. If you have enough cover, a 40 is fine, as my boy's in a 40-gal with two hides with no issues as all, but ball pythons shouldn't be spending a lot of time cruising. If he is you'll need to provide more cover and clutter for him to hide in.

These guys actually rarely leave the location they were born in more than just a mile, and that's being generous. They're also nocturnal, so if your ball is regularly roaming during the day, he doesn't feel safe.

Arch,I used the wrong term of words..all day isn't what I meant..I'm at work all day so I don't know what he does... But there are plenty of hiding spots..he has two hides and one corner on the warm side,the tank is fairly busy.

his home now,the reg day time heat basking Bulbjust blew out like 20 mins ago ,so just leaving the red night heat bulb on til I get to petco or wherever. Getting a new bulb in prob about an hour or so
