    wrong snake, compensation?
So some of you know I ordered a snake and the breeder sent me the wrong one, I talked to him, he won't do an exchange because the cost of shipping. This was just a young pastel male. The best he can do is give a discount on another snake, how much off another purchase do you believe is reasonable? What would you do if you made this mistake?

If it was the seller's mistake, the seller should make it right. I would request a refund for the snake and ship it back and take my money elsewhere personally. I don't feel that it's right to take your money and send you the wrong snake and only offer an option of spending more money with them to get the snake you originally paid for.

You purchased an animal (not the one you received), the breeder made the mistake and the onus is on him to rectify it. Both morally and legally. Shipping cost is irrelevant, why should you suffer because of his mistake. What animal did you pay for and what did he send you?

Umm. You did not get what you paid for. When a seller screws up sometimes they have to eat some fees (aka shipping) Personally if you send me the wrong snake and tell me you will not exchange it with what I paid for (Or something else I like if you happen to no longer have the snake I purchase) then you need to send me some $ to cover the cost of me shipping it back to you when you send me my full refund.

"F" that.... Get your money back, and buy from someone else.
If I'm allowed to ask; Who's the breeder/company? (You can PM that info, if we can't discuss it here). I'd like to avoid buying from them in the future.

did you get a pastel male instead of a pastel male?

or did you originally order something completely different?

If I remember correctly the breeder sent the OP a picture of 2 Pastels and he chose the one that he wanted. The breeder sent him the wrong snake which was determined by looking at the markings from the original picture and the pictures of the pastel he received.

IMO the breeder should eat the cost of the shipping and refund the money or send the correct snake.

I've had this happen to me. The seller should do whatever you agree to. When it happened to me the seller sent me a new snake and I paid for shipping. I kept and sold the first snake I was sent.

In my opinion there are a few options that don't involve the seller paying for shipping....

    1. Give you a discount on a new snake equal to the price you paid
    2. Send you the correct snake (you only pay shipping)
    3. Give you at least half your money back, all of it if you don't like the snake/want it
(my least favorite option unless it's a full refund minus the shipping)

IMO you paid for the snake you saw in the pictures. You didn't email the seller and ask for any old pastel, or whatever you are looking for. If you wanted to do that you would order from some crappy pet store website.

So HE made a mistake refuses to fix HIS mistake and offer a discount on the next purchase, sorry but if it was me there wouldn'tīt be a next purchase.

The only acceptable compensations to me would be.

A/ Replacement of the animal and getting the one originally purchased.

B/ If you are willing to keep the animal, getting a partial refund on the animal you just purchased.

C/ Return of the animal at HIS expense and full refund including shipping fee.
