help me :( I'm worried about my baby
Hi there. I have an almost 6 month old baby ball. He was eating regularly before I took him home and started bonding with him. After a week of having him, I tried to feed him and he refused. So I asked my friend and he took the fuzzy on her first attempt. This happened again. Well, now it has been about 3 weeks and he won't eat (I've not tried having someone else feed him) I understand that they binge eat and fast often, I've been through it with my 3 year old Cleoh. But is this normal for his age?? I just need for someone to put me at ease or tell me what to do and maybe give me a little insight as to why he will eat when other people try to feed him but not me. I seriously love him with all my heart and am kinda stressed that he isn't eating )= Oh and just so no one asks about the following: He has no mites, no mouth rot, no apparent health issues, he has a clean habitat, correct temps with gradient, correct humidity. Any idea? Thanks <3

Are you positive everything is set on? Can you at least describe your set up? Do you have a thermostat? How are you monitoring temperature? Are you using a fish tank/tub/rack?
Also, a weight would be good. If a ball python fasts, as long as its not loosing a significant amount of weight, I wouldn't be too worried.
Re: help me :( I'm worried about my baby
How is the weight?
The animal has a place to hide?
How is the temperature?
The animal lives in a terrarium or rack?
What the animal has eaten the previous owner? (The same attempt, unfortunately, some animals are food specialists ...)
Tests every 2 weeks to feed the animal. Otherwise it has too much stress and therefore denied.
There is no problem if the animal does not eat and loses a little weight.
sometimes the animals take longer to settle in..
I had the animals nine months have not eaten if they do not lose much weight, that's OK
Sometimes you need a lot of patience with the BP

I don't know how to upload a picture. It says my file is too large. I have temperature and humidity gauges on both sides. He is in a 20 gallon terrarium with a hide over the uth, a resin tree branch for climb, and terrarium jungle vines to provide a more private enclosure. Oh and the next size up of mouse is larger than his girth.

There are a few things that could be causing issues. First off, we start fresh hatchlings on mouse hoppers, so a fuzzy is definitely too small for a healthy 6 month old. If he is too small to eat an adult mouse, I doubt he was eating well before you got him. Also, how much are you handling him? I would recommend not handling him until he is eating consistently.

I had the same problem with my girl. I was doing frozen and i had a buddy of mine who is a breeder teach me tricks to get her to eat and they would only work once. But we figured out she is a switcher every other time she will eat live mice and every other time it has to be frozen. She is a silly thing lol
