Hey. I used to know all this, but I haven't even thought about it in like six months so I've forgotten almost everything I knew... Hopefully someone here knows. I know emotions and mental status is based on certain chemical levels within the brain, but I forgot which part of a humans brain actually let's us have those emotions. Isn't it the frontal lobe that processes most emotions? (Such as planning, decision making)
I.E: what makes humans feel emotions, and what makes snakes NOT have emotions. I did a little research but like I said... It's been awhile.

The have the Deep Limbic System which is the central part of the brain that stores the most highly emotional memories whether it be positive or negative. This sets the tempo for a persons emotional state.

The Prefrontal Cortex is the front half of the brain that controls stuff like focus, impulse control, emotional control, empathy and stuff.

So that's probably what you're talking about.

While I'm not all knowledgeable they do have frontal lobes and all that mess. I don't know how to explain it though.
