In need of tips with humidity please
My husband and I are still really new to our 5yr old Ball, and we are having troubles with the humidity. We have a 55gal glass tank with a CHE,a small UTH, baked soil and new grass. Plenty of water and heat, but the humidity wont stay up. I read on the care sheets that it needs to be 50 to 60, and during shedding is 60 to 70, but its seems that some ppl on here keep it lower, is that ok?? Its never been below 40, but we have wood heat so im going to say its goin to get really dry. Is moss a good thing?? Or just stick with moist towels on top?? What is a good range of humidy?? Hes started theshed process so i know it needs to go up and stay up so any tips or ticks would be helpful and appreciated!!
    Thanks!!

Typically, ball pythons need higher humidity during the shedding process, around 60%-70% . The humidity in my racks stay around 50-60% , I will mist during the winter to help with shedding.

Different types of substrate will help such as cypress mulch or coconut fiber. Another humidity tip is to place the water dish above the uth, also try covering the top with either plexi glass or something similar.

I just get a ball of sphagnum moss, soak it in warm water once a week, and put it throughout the enclosure. Also wetting a towel and laying it over the cage helps to keep the moisture in.

Try sphagnum moss in a hide that will help if the BP will use it. What are you using to measure the humidity?

I reccomend cutting some plexie glass and setting it on top of the tank screen/lid. That will help out alot with trapping humidity and will still give you adequate airflow if cut/positioned properly. You could always add a moist hide, with a 55gall tank there should be plenty of room to get one in there somewhere.
